I think most are just typos - perhaps he wrote in a hurry.I have seen LZ's English in another board - it's not bad.I have passed level 6 and my TOEFL score is not bad, but I believe that I cannot avoid making such kind of errors.Many prof.s also have typos in their emails and papers.
Just a kind suggestion: xiaobailong, perhaps you could double-check the sentences you wrote before you post a message - this would help improve your English.

Sorry, I mean, Prof.s always make typos when they write a paper (before submitting the paper).That's why spell check is important.My advisor requires me to do spell check every time before I submit a paper.

我想应该是might，不是always ;)
Typo还是挺多机会的吧，一篇文章打下来，总有不小心或不太清楚而弄错了的地方，所以才要spell check的啊。而且那些spell check也不是针对外国人才开发的吧？美国人英国人应该也用得很多啊。
小细节上大家不要争论了好不好，意思都明白就行了。今天打汉字，看到两个词组，“掺和”，“搀和”，不知道该选哪个，谁给说说其中的区别？
掺和 ＝ 搀和
掺 字读chan的时候同 搀
美轮美奂还是 美仑美奂？

中文很多通假字。很多东西说不清。
当初是在一个测试汉语水平的考试里看到这个问题的，给出的正确答案是 美轮美奂。 当时好多人反对，但是我后来用sun拼音法打字的时候，给出的就是这个词组。然后有人查了金山词霸，也是这个词组。虽然如此，后来还晕了好半天。
